Nothing Interesting
I got nothing interesting to blog about this week coz work is basically the same. So, posting photos will do hahaha.

The cakes were given by Lin, on my last day of work in Singtel. She left it on my table when i was busy with my work. Such a surprise. As for the mug, that's from Cynthia and her husband.

This was taken during my grandfather's birthday dinner I once blogged about. They're my cousins.

My New Baby Cam
For your info, I have bought a digital camera last month and it's a sony cybershot with a memory stick of 512MB. And guess what?It actually costs me less than RM1000. Got it from Fotokem though. I recommend anyone to go buy cameras from that shop too, if anyone is planning to get one.

Anyway, these are some of the photos my sis took. Juz for the fun of it, here goes...Will be posting more photos in the future hopefully :-) For the time being, I'll juz post some personal ones first hehe.

Weekly Report
My 2nd week in Creative was fine. I basically just assist my supervisor in coordinating and evaluating training programs. We’ve recently taken over the resource center which was previously handled by another department. It’s actually a room with 2 computers with Internet access, some books, magazines and newspapers. Every morning, either me or the other colleague will go collect the newspapers and placed them on the rack and make sure everything in there is in good condition. Well, in my division (training division), there are me and my supervisor and another gal who is also handling staff lockers and uniforms.

In Vishay, there are only 6 in HR but in Cubic, there are 20 of us in the HR dept, including the manager. The discrepancy is becoz of the headcount. Vishay consists of I think 800 staff and Cubic 3000. It’s like 3.5 times more, so of coz HR will have more staff too. Any of you who have been to Cubic will know that the parking lot that’s near to the admin office is very small and space is limited. The main parking lot is so damn far, I tell you. You gotta walk thru the warehouse which is so damn huge. Btw, I’ve been in there a few times. Guess it stores millions and millions of Creative MP3 players and sound blaster.

Anyway, my manager looks like Joanna, or should I say Joanna looks like her (hmm) But it doesn’t matter as long as she reminds me of Joanna when I see her around. The rest…two 18 years old, two 22, then I think got 25, 26, 27, 30...all in that range of age. And there is only one guy in HR hahaha. Iskandar is his name. Let me show you the break down of division for your info.

Personnel Management
Manager-1 (all sorts haha)
Payroll-5 (salary, bonus…)
Employee Adminitration-5 (badges, employment letters, memos and notification…)
Training-3 (in house & external training, resource ctr, forklift & reach truck ID, uniforms & lockers…)
Employee Communication and Disiplin-3 (counseling, employee satisfaction, complaints, dress code…)
Compensation and Benefit-3 (gifts, panel clinic, medical claims….)

My colleague in last mentioned division makes lotsa trips to the hospital. She has to rush to the hospital when one of our staff was about to give birth hahaha. It seemed like she was the one to go deliver. She also has to accompany any staff who really needs to go to the hospital. Then in our dept, you can see alwiz hampers, for new born baby, for marriage..macam macam la. And another thing, there’s alwiz this smth calls donation. Those who want to make contribution for occasion such as staff given birth, staff getting married, or funeral of staff family members bla bla bla, can donate to those who are collecting. So far, I have not donated any coz I dun know these ppl yet. I mean, they won’t even know who I am in the first place man. In the future, maybe will ‘pokkai’ (broke or go bankrupt) Welcome to the working world!
Speaking of bonus that I will only get after confirmation, it’s an interesting one hehe. We receive bonus not only at the end of the year and more times than any other companies I know so far. Maybe Infineon or NS pay bonus like we do? I duno. Tell you later. It’s still early to say anything…still under probation la somebody hehe ;p

Oh yeah, we are allow to take free beverage from the pantry though. They have Milo, Tea and Coffee. They’re not the ready made kind instead in powder form. You decide how you want your drinks to be. For the past few days, those were what I had during tea break. No specific time for tea break, in fact you can eat anything at anytime. Flexibility is being practiced in factory like this anyway. How cool. Btw, I brought food like instant noodles and a tin of biscuits to be kept in my drawer. Those are for tea also hehe.

Until next time, stay tuned.

Adapting
I’m the type of person who do not enjoy being in a totally new environment at all. I hate the process of adaptation, mind you. This workplace is still so foreign to me and I feel like I dun belong here yet. But I know time will change things so basically I’m juz learning to get use to everything around here as soon as I could! Arhh…new environment sucks.

Me and the other new intake operators had a one day orientation on Mon and we waited for about 3 hours in the training room for the program to start. I have wasted 3 precious hours doing nothing man. The delay was due to some HR and trainer thingy which I dun exactly know what. I was the only exempt stuff in that Monday intake group. For those who do not know what the diff between exempt and non-exempt, this is the definition taken from the employee handbook. Exempt-“Job comprises supervisory responsibilities and functions are professional in nature eg engineering assistant or engineer. Min edu req is a diploma or equivalent.” So, non-exempt are those operators and clerk with secondary level education. During the training, I was given a welcome gift. It’s a Cubic paperbag with a company’s mug, a log book and a pen inside. Non-exempt staff did not get that pack though.

I was shown my desk, well my cubicle to be exact. Not a room, unless I’m holding a position of a manager and that’s something to expect 10 years down the road hehe ;p My computer monitor sucks big time man! It’s an old Compaq monitor with a dull and dim screen. I have tried adjusted the brightness and contrast settings but no avail. I did some experimenting around though and caused the whole images of the screen went 90 degree to the left hahahaha and the technician had to come fix it. How I wish then I have screwed it so that they would give me a new one. Damn! How I wish they’d failed to fix it man! *Frus frus* Help!!

Other than my monitor which is not in a very good condition, other stuff have been ok so far. My CPU is a new one I guess coz it’s much better compared to the rest. I was given some stationary too. But not a pen holder....duh! Need to get one for myself now :-) My place is still very spacious and empty, so I plan to decorate it with some photos next week. I dun wan to pin my photos on the partition coz I dun wan any holes on my photo man, what a waste. So I guess some bringing some photo frames will do. Need to go get photo frames also now :p A fren asked me on the phone whose photo I’ll be putting. (fren, if u want me to put urs, I’ll consider lor hehe) Of coz my family photo. It’ll be so nice to think that your family is alwiz there for you, no matter what happen. It’s simply a wonderful feeling. So a family photo is a must hehe :-) Frens photo is smth not to be forgotten as well, so group photo of my good frens will definitely be there too. No more…that’s it. Oh yeah, should put up a photo of me and a fren I’m recently ‘paktoh’ with too. We smsed each other every night now and everytime we sms, we’d get a lil emotional that it kinda makes us both wanna cry and during one of the nights, we couldn't even call as we know either one of us or both would cry *sob sob* We miss each other’s company so much :-(

First few days were kinda boring. New environment, no frens, no work. I wasn’t being assigned any work at all, so basically I was merely playing around with my pc and lotus notes. (we use lotus notes there) The big office clock is hanging right in front of me and I juz stared at it, counting the hours and mins until it strikes 6 everyday. Oh yeah, the HR dept here is known as PM, which stands for ‘Personnel Management’. I’m sitted beside my immediate supervisor whom I‘ll be assisting from now on. She told me that there’s no such word as ‘subordinate’ for her and we’ll be working as colleagues/friends. However, a boss is still a boss, they will still keep an eye on you. After all, they are the ones who will conduct your performance appraisal.

I went to see the PM manager on my first day and she briefed me a lil about the dept. According to her, there will be no increment of salary upon confirmation but there will be review and bonus 3 times a year. How cool is that! She also mentioned that she expects me to perform becoz she said I really convinced them during the interview. *Oops* I then told her I will try my best. During lunch, my supervisor too told me that there are MMU grads came applying for this job. I had no idea about that man. She also said they’ve scrutinized carefully before selecting to make sure that the person holding this position will be able to work under difficult situation. Oh no, that’s mean it’s me man hahaha. With all of the support you all have given, I can do it :-)

Lunch culture here ain’t the same as Vishay nor Singtel. The good thing is that we have meal subsidy and we’re entitled for RM20 per month. The maximum amount we’re allowed to spend is RM1 per day. So basically it’s around 50% off for one lunch in Cubic. I was told that the RM1 would be forfeited if we do not use it on that particular day. They told me to go make use of that subsidy to buy some wafer or tissue instead haha and I did. Anyway, for lunch, we’d tapau food from the canteen then eat at our own table back in the office. How bored is that! Unlike in Vishay, we’d eat and talk (yeah gossip talk) in the training room haha. Then in singtel, me and cynthia would chat away non stop while eating in places like Yong Peng, Ordean, Italy Bakery, Wilson Chicken rice, or some aunty’s coffee shop. Miss all that! I will try to change things and implement new culture in Cubic then hahahaha…as if I could but who knows what will happen rite? Change it or adapt to it hehe.

Towards the end of the week, guess my colleagues have kinda already got used to seeing me, I can now talk to some of them. Could already make some trip to their table and look at the photos, talking and stuff. One of the gal actually asked if I was english ed coz of the way I speak. I juz told her my mother tounge is english as both my parents are english ed. Fyi, she is Robin Wong’s fren from UTM. I see…so she’s the one huh…

Ok…I’m sure there will be more things to blog about work starting from now. So stay with me and together we will explore and find out more about my new company! Adios~

Down To Memories
It was my last working day yesterday. Well I got no time for any kind of emotional thingy. The numbers of orders assigned to me was quite reasonable before lunch time and there were around 5 or 6 pending ones before I left for lunch but when I came back, it soared up to about 15 or so, which sucked. 15 is considered extremely few to the seniors as they got around 200 plus each hehe, but then it was my last working day and I was supposed to go home at 5pm. According to the team leader who assigned the orders to me, they didn’t have enuf order issuers. Implication? All of us who didn’t go on leave gotta work on them la. So I finished issuing my orders, did some past amendments, clear all my outstanding works, clear my mailbox which contained lotsa ‘junks’ such as chats over the intranet hahaha…all ended at about 6.30pm though. I was like cursing all the way coz I was so damn busy I didn’t have the time to go talk to my fellow colleagues and stuff. If I dun go borak borak with them, when else hello? F*cked up! Anyway, one of them said I look like an anime character *goodness* I guess most probably was becoz of my fringe and the short skirt I was wearing haha. And also Lin told me she already knew I'm peranakan, according to her....was thru my BM accent. How cool is that man and i'm proud to be one haha!!

I brought along my newly bought digicam wanting to take pictures but the battery died after I took juz 1 or 2, that’s also without using the flash and focus function. The reason for the drained battery was becoz of some nonsense photos I’ve taken before this. Hahahaha joking. Btw, Lin brought her cam too so we had backup. Managed to snap a few though :) Actually I did bring some spair batteries but since Lin was using hers already. Anyway, gotta go buy some rechargeable battery soon man. Will try to post the photos if I'm able to ok.

Ah huh...now the interesting part. The admirer thingy ;p I told Cynthia that I went to this person’s workstation to do smth and then he somehow got to know that it’s my last working day in Sudong. After a while, she emailed me with this “he must be broken heart liao la.....hahahah” Rite..prime suspect.

She still wouldn’t tell me who the person is and she was really trying to test my patience man. According to her, she was worry that I will feel awkward facing him..wat the heck? Later she told me that she would let me know what she knew after work. But that didn’t happen as I went back later than her. Lin was the one to tell me how it all came about. She said this guy was asking Su stuff about me. Su told Lin and Juliza, Lin told Cynthia and Cynthia told me, well a lil bit.

Asking about somebody may not necessary means you admire somebody anyway. But Lin wanted to confirm it, so she has actually been observing him. I was told this…

Lin: “Kan ada satu kali awak pigi kat tempat dia buat order ke apa, cara dia duduk dan cakap memang show sesuatu. Tapi masa tu awak hanya sibuk dengan kerja awak kat komputer..” Then tadi kan, kitorang amik gambar, I perhatikan dia lagi, dia memang pandang kat awak..memang dah sah…”

She sounded really confident man hahaha. Well, I’m not that blur also ok. Today after finding out the ‘truth’, I tried to avoid passing by his place if I have a choice coz only then I realized he’d looked at me without raising his head but only his eyes, whenever I used that path or when I stood up getting help from the rest. I didn’t dare to look back, ah couldn’t do it. Should have eh? Ish ish...but who ask me not to have the guts, damn! Oh yeah, he is one of my seniors. He is not Chinese, not malay, not Indian…I dun really know what race he is of. I can’t tell thru his name man.

Well, I’m not taking it seriously. I wouldn’t really belif it unless he came telling me himself. Signs and indications can be misleading but again, it had become one of the memories I have in Sudong. What a discovery on my last day in Singtel. Btw, I emailed them all, saying my bye and sending my wishes. They wished me back when they’re about to go home and that’s nice :-) Cynthia and her husband got me a gift for remembrance and good luck. Thanks!! Lin, the malay gal I’m the closest with really surprised me. When she was going home, we said our bye and I wanted her number but somehow she seemed like not wanting to give me and kept saying stuff like Cynthia has mine….then she will get it from her..and she will call me bla bla bla. I was like “okla” coz I can’t be forcing anyone to give me their numbers rite. When I went back to my workstation, there was this italy bakery plastic bag with smth inside on my table. Curiously I opened it..oh my gosh…there are 3 pieces of cakes placed in a transparent box, together with a letter. I read it right away and it was from Lin. I juz smiled while reading it coz it’s so touching and sweet! She left her house phone and hp number all right there. Ish no wonder she didn’t want to give me when I asked. It WAS a surprise...aww!! This particular line of hers in the letter made me think abit and I still am right now. Hmm…

“Cintai lah org yang menyayangi kita drpd kita mencintai org yang kita sayangi”

I tried. But I couldn’t.

Coming back to my last day there, what else let me see. I didn’t know how to amend my very last order so instead of ransacking all my notes (there're alot) I seeked help from this one senior Portuguese Eurasian guy. He is kinda cute in the sense that he told me to bring my exercise book home which I think I’m not supposed to. (fyi, all the files and notes were to be given back) So after he did the amendment, he left my workstation and I found out later that he placed my pen in between of the pages of the exercise book and on that page itself, was his phone number and email address and friendster. Hahahaha~ Cute.

I brought some cookies samples made by my aunty to the workplace. She is selling them for Christmas and Chinese New Year. I managed to sell about 7 boxes only with the help of my ATL. 7 is better than none though. I dun think going around asking the whole call center is a good idea man. Btw, that so called admirer ordered a box too and asked it’s gonna be a door step delivery. Nope, haha ;p Anyway, my aunt sells really cheap cookies. It’s hard to get such price outside. So if any of u is interested to try or make an order, let me know. You know how to reach me :-)

Cubic..here I come!! I dunno what to expect and I have no idea how’s thing gonna be like in there. I sure hope everything goes well. Till then, ciao. Will update you all with my new job soon.

Who?
I had my first 2-hour claimable OT yesterday which was Hari Raya Eve. Cool hehe. So many orders to raise man. Many staff in my dept are malays actually and they were off for raya.

Tomorrow is my last working day in Sudong. I've bought something for eveyone of them. I mean my batch of frens and team leaders. I have also written an email with message for each and everyone of them. Hope Cynthia is not reading this tonight coz if she does, it's no longer a surprise. Btw, I guess they all know it's my last day there already..except those seniors.

Yesterday, Cynthia sent me an email at work and according to her, there is an admirer of mine at the workplace. Hmm...of coz I asked her who the person is and whether it's herself hahaha but well she and Lin were giggling and didn't want to break it to me. Reason given? "If I tell you now, how are you gonna face him these working days?" Fine, I dun want to know either wahahaha. Well, they would only tell me tomorrow as it's gonna be my last day there. Let's see what these jokers gonna come up with and they gonna bully me for sure, as I was already told by Cynthia.

Bring it on! Bully me once, shame on you; bully me twice, shame on me. Hahahaha dun even try to bully me even once, coz it's not possible, oh yeah ;p One thing, if they really wanna bully me, I'm real ok with it but don't, don't ever make me cry for feeling keberatan and tak sampai hati. Trust me, I will hehe. Dun spoil my makeup ppl~

It's really hard to leave your collegues for another new job even though you've only been with them for 2 months plus. Control control, kenot get too emotional, kenot cry man! No way. I will try my best.
